Anyone Up For A Challenge!!

PHEW!!!!  It's been a very long time since it's taken me a full week to complete a project!!  The previous post (Perga-Zen© "Stars Forever") took almost that long but this wall decoration is the second of the pair and it almost brought me to my knees.....lol

My goal with this Perga-Zen© - "Sampler" was to try not to duplicate technique/tool/grid too often AND to use as many parching tools as possible from my own inventory!!   WHOA!!!!  Half way through I surely felt I had bitten off way more than I could chew but I was absolutely determined to come as close to my own goal as I possibly could, so I plugged along.....got a few horrid headaches....almost ran out of tools to use because I don't have a large collection of them....was totally cross-eyed by the end of each days work and I gave my own creativity a run for it's money!!!!!

I LOVE a challenge....I LOVE having a goal and working my butt off to reach it.....I LOVE creating new, 'out of the box' things....I LOVE when it all comes together in the end :))

Okay, is everybody ready to see the second of the wall decoration pair??

Perga-Zen© - "Sampler" Wall Decoration
Well now...everyone is thinking/saying/wondering what's the big deal with this?  It 'looks' like any other parchment project.  Go back and read the second paragraph once again.....then come back and take a good, long, hard look at this wall decoration again.  Now, as I stated above, I do not have a huge parching inventory so I did end up having to use a few things more than once, but for those of you who have every parching tool under the sun, you will be in creative heaven!!  How long has it been since you actually used all those tools that you paid high prices for and either never, or rarely, use?  Dust them off.....join in the challenge.....let's see what you come up with!!

Here is a list of the tools I used on my project:
Every embossing tool I have.....from stylus up to the largest ball size
Bold and fine one needle perforating tool
Two needle perforating tool
Small and medium sun tool
Hockey stick
Small and medium shader
Multi Grid #4 and #19
A&D Design Multi Grid #PS121, #PS108, #PS101
Micron Pen Black #05 and #08
Perga scissors

If you're not sitting down......sit down now because here comes the pattern!!!!  Simply click on the image (to enlarge it) then right click to save it to your local drive.

Perga-Zen© Sampler Pattern

It is exactly the same as what I worked my project from.  It is a copyright free web design found in one of my browsing journeys years ago, and the challenge to anyone who wants to take it on is:

Be as creative as you want with this pattern and use as many of your parching tools as you possibly can while trying not to duplicate any technique, or tool, unless absolutely necessary.

Feel free to refer back to my interpretation of the pattern, however, in the challenge, you may not copy what I have done.....use your own creative juices and make your project a very unique, special creation.....a true "one of a kind" parchment wall decoration :))

When your CHALLENGE PERGA-ZEN© SAMPLER wall decoration is complete, please send a scan/photo back to me (if you would like to, that is!!) and we'll share it, in the Guest Gallery, with everyone.

Come on now everyone, let's have some fun!!  I challenged myself with this project....let's see what you can do with this pattern :))  Good luck and let that creative energy inside you come out.....try something new!!

Perga-Zen© - "Stars Forever" Parchment Wall Decoration

Oh my goodness, I didn't realize I have been away far too long!!  Sometimes 'life' really does force us to take a detour now and then and that's where I've been.....tending to some 'life matters'.  I haven't done much parching at all these past few weeks, but over this weekend I made the time to make this A4 wall decoration.  I think I really needed to put my mind back in a place that is wonderful therapy for me, even if only for a few hours.

Stars Forever - A4 Wall Decoration
I really love working in black and white on parchment!!  Of course, I also love all the other techniques (including all of my own that I've created) but when your mind is going in many different directions, the simpleness and beauty of black and white is always just what the doctor ordered!!

This piece is a full A4 sheet of parchment paper.  I used a .05 Black Micron pen for all of the black work and simply embossed the places on the design where I wanted a bit of "white pop" to balance things out a bit.  Then I did some perforating and cutting.....yes, it's on there but difficult to see because I used black card stock for the backing paper!!  All in all, a very relaxing project that allowed a wee bit of time spent in my parching world :))

Remember everyone.....any time you would like to experiment with any of the techniques I share here on my blog, just take a photo, or scan your project and send it to me in an email.  I'm always very happy to post it in the Guest Gallery to share with everyone.

Perga-Zen© A Mans Mandala

Here is a bit of doodling on parchment and when all was said and done I thought it was the perfect wall decoration for the men in our lives that are always so very, very difficult to create things for, made from parchment paper!!!  It is a large 8" X 10" wall decoration and as you can see, very BOLD in black and white.  It looks easy but there's an awfully lot of embossing and cutting in this piece....along with a ton of coloring with a .05 Black Micron pen :))  Because of it's basic, bold simplicity though I really felt it would be a true "eye catcher" for the guys.......what do you think????

Perga-Zen

I am calling this technique.....Perga-Zen©!!!!  This post will be quite brief because in the previous post I stated I was going to challenge myself to put "organized doodles" to parchment paper.....remember??  Well, I DID IT, and I quite like the results!!!

Task accomplished, however, this piece is only a sample.  I promised I would share the results, good/bad or indifferent, so here it is and now I'm asking for your feedback/opinions/honest thoughts....good/bad or indifferent :))

PERGA-ZEN©

This particular design can be very neutral in many ways and I think that is a very, very good thing!!!  It can be used on the base card stock in either a verticle OR horizontal manner.  And, because all four directions of the design are completely different, it can be used in four different ways, which I think is totally AWESOME!!!!  That's a good thing....right??  It is gender neutral as well.  It can be for a female, or for those difficult to make cards for, MEN.  That's a good thing too....right??  Also, it adheres to the pure, traditional methods of parchment craft yet has a very 'different' feel to it which comes from the Zen.

Here are the other three views of the same design!!

See how very different all four of them look??  You get four different ways to use one design.....pretty cool, huh!!!!

I'll leave you to ponder your thoughts and let me know if you feel "organized doodling" is worthy of entering the realm of our beloved art called parchment craft......
