Gemini & Cancer Birth Signs

Hello, hello....

Just a quick update on the status of the Zodiac Birth Sign Collection.  Gemini and Cancer are the next to be completed and Leo, of course, is already done and in the store.  I will be taking a very brief  'time out' over the first part of April and will then continue the remainder of the parchment collection.

I have also removed my Ebook "Parchment Craft 'Etched Glass' Technique" from the publishing site it has always been on and although it is no longer in print, it can still be purchased directly from me, (via PayPal) if anyone has an interest.  Bear in mind, one needs to know, at least, the basics of photo editing, or have a parching tutor who has learned the technique and can assist, but it is not a difficult technique to learn simply from the Ebook, as there are lots of visual, as well as written, instructions.

Also, if anyone has something, in particular, they would like to see, here on the blog, please drop thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc., in the comments and I'm looking forward to reading them!!!

Lastly, for this time.....I have had inquiries about the Christmas images I have used on my cards, over the past few years, and they want to know where to get the images.  They have always been right here on the blog, to download FREE, so here is a challenge for you!!  Simply, grab a cuppa, put your feet up and take a break.....then get comfortable and browse backward through the 'older' posts and you will soon find where the "Etched Glass" Christmas images are that are absolutely FREE to download and use.

Until next time....

WHOOHOO!!! Taurus #1&2 In Store!!!

Hi everyone,

Well, after many hours of fighting pc crashes/blog totally disappearing/printer out of ink/backup printer not compatible with some of the programs I use on the desktop, etc., etc., etc., I finally have both Taurus birth signs in the store.  Please be sure and let me know if anything is not working right though because all is well on this end.....so I HOPE it is on yours as well. :)

If anyone has missed the ongoing posts about the Taurus signs, I made two of them because some parts of the world consider 'any' hoofed, male animal (aside from horses, etc) to be "The Bull", while here in the USA we put cattle in that category, so in order to have everyone covered, I made one of each so no one would be left out.

All that's necessary for you to do now is choose which suits you, or your recipient, and they remain the same price (individually) as all the previous signs.  For those who would like BOTH signs I have given a discount, so pick what you want and then have fun!!

Reminder:  I always put my contact info, and the link here to my blog, on all of my pattern packs, so if my designing doesn't make as much sense to you, as it did to me, then don't panic because you can reach me with questions....or simply to shout "I don't get this"!!!!!!! :)  :)  :)

ARIES - Zodiac Birth Sign Now in NEW Design Store

Hi all,

Well now, I have had this design ready to post since Friday but couldn't manage to get near enough to my desktop pc to put it all together for blog posting. :((   Anyway, folks, here is the next installation of the Zodiac Birth Sign Collection and it is a bit simpler than any of the previous designs.....because The Ram is a pretty intimidating without a 'busy' border!!

The next sign is, of course, Taurus, and several people are waiting on that one, so I'll move from my desktop system back over to the work/designing desk and get with the program...lol

PISCES - NOW IN STORE!!

Happy Valentines Day to all,

Well, I had hoped to have this Zodiac Birth Sign completed yesterday but sometimes high tech devices don't want to cooperate with a human being, soooooooo, here is the PISCES sign finally finished!!  Just click on the "NEW" Designs Store tab and have fun.....

Now, you will notice that the border on this sign is different from the first three signs already in the store.....which by the way, are the very same 'foundation' border pattern BUT if you look closely you will see they are all finished in a completely different way.  Just thought I'd mention that again in case no one scrolled to the bottom of the page before now.....lol  Anyway, the border on this sign is different and I will be using the same 'foundation' for Aires and Taurus, but my challenge to myself is to find a way to also make them different from the techniques I used on the Pisces....follow me??  :)

I also want/need to mention in this post that if anyone prefers their Zodiac Birth Sign made using the #1 border pattern (already on the first 3 signs), please specify that in the COMMENTS area of your PayPal so that I will know, because I will have to put that particular sign 'with' that particular border, and it will take time to do adjustments, but I wanted everyone to know, that as we proceed, it will be an option for a small increase in price.  If there are any questions please feel free to contact me here.

Okay folks, that's it for this time for the Zodiac Collection!!  For those who used to be (and still are) interested in my BLOG CHALLENGE, I will be having them again and the first one will be for the month of March.  Sorry, but no prizes......just the enjoyment of challenging yourself to do/try something different in this wonderful world of parchment craft!!

WELCOME 2016!!!!!! I AM BACK......

HELLO, HELLO, HELLO....

Gosh, I honestly do not know where to begin, but here I am and I am FINALLY ready to get back in the groove.....parchment groove, that is!!  As you can see, on the date of my 'last' post, it has been well over a year since I was here last and LOTS has happened, both medically and personally, but for now, we will stick to parching.....bottom line is, I found my mojo and am busy once again.  :)

So, lets get down to business and see what I'm up to for the next few months.  First, I have begun designing a Zodiac Birth Sign Collection of 8"X8" wall hangings and I will be posting a new birth sign each month throughout this year.  They will be available for purchase, and download upon receipt of payment, in the blog store.  Now, every parcher will agree that creating anything for the males in our lives (from parchment paper) is 'almost' impossible, so although I tried not to be gender specific in this collection, it does have a definite rugged 'look' to it, soooooo, later on I will design another complete collection that is a bit more feminine so no one gets left out!!!!!!  Here is a sample of the first collection:

 Zodiac Birth Sign Collection

When one is not parching for an extended time it's very difficult to remember everything in the right order, in this craft, when writing instructions!!!!  I had hoped to have the Capricorn completed in time (in December) to have it posted and ready for purchase, but with the holidays I couldn't get everything in order, so it is ready NOW, if anyone wants to start their collection with this sign.  Otherwise, the next sign is Aquarius and it will be posted over this weekend (1/17) so watch for it!!

I have also had many requests for the pattern pack for my Crowning Glory design and it took me quite awhile to 'remember' how I had put all my scribbling to together, but it finally was completed and it will also be in the blog store very soon.  Here is that design, as a reminder:

Crowning Glory

Lastly, for this time.....I would like to thank one and all for your loyalty in continuing to 'check in' here to see if I was still around over the last 1 1/2 years and to all my fellow parchers for the support and kind words when I have had the courage to try and get something 'new' posted every once in awhile on FB.  It truly has meant a lot to me to know that there are lots of wonderful folks who enjoy my work watching for something new to pop up somewhere!!!!!  :)

Well, that's it for now.  There will be some challenges started too (like we used to have....sorry, but no prizes because the geographical coordination from sponsors is nearly impossible for us on this side of the pond) but we will continue to have fun with challenges simply for that......the fun in it!!!!

Happy New Year to everyone and

Happy Parching,
Vickie

How To Make a Colored Pencil Storage Carousel (Tutorial)

Hi everyone,

For anyone looking for the "How To Make a Colored Pencil Storage Carousel" Tutorial.....I have moved it to the Tutorials Page and it will be there, for safe keeping, from now on.  Just click on the Tutorial tab at the top of this page and everything is over there!!

While I'm here, I would also like to bring a brief update on my health.....so everyone who has been thinking I have totally disappeared can rest easy 'cause I'm still around!!!!  :))  I have made good progress in learning how to manage my most recent diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and I have been parching for only short periods of time and relearning lots of things from Polio limitations that have had to be intertwined with the constant pain of the fibromyalgia.......UGH!!  So, there you have a 'brief' health update and I can't even begin to tell you how much I have missed the craft I love so much over these past many, many months.  I didn't really realize how long it was going to take to learn how to live my life, again, with an additional 'handicap', but I'm not a quitter, so as long as I can breathe, I will be making progress.

Sooooooo, I'm anxious to get back on track and (no promises, this time!!) I'm anxious to begin challenging myself (and all of you!!) to try new things in this awesome ancient craft.

See you soon....

An Old Challenge....

Hi Everyone!!!

I know.....it's been a very long time since I've managed to be here and share things with you as I used to.  I do have some good news and that is:  I'm now more able to get things back on track and over the past few days I've been doing some major "blog house cleaning" and I may have done too good a job!!!

An old (2011) challenge has re-appeared in the mailboxes of those members who receive updates via email, so if you are one of those members, and should you wish to take part in that particular OLD challenge, then please feel free to do so!!  There were a lot of participants when the original challenge was issued, but I'm always willing to reissue something that everyone seemed to like a lot.

For those who might not have a clue what I'm referring to, CLICK HERE to go  to the original challenge, issued in June 2011.  Read the challenge instructions.....download the pattern.....and have FUN!!!

Now, my challenges are NOT a competition.  They are solely for parchment crafters who enjoy challenging themselves in ways that one might not think of.

While everyone is enjoying the challenge, I will continue my "blog house cleaning" task at hand and I'll be sharing some new things with all of you very soon!! :))  If anyone taking part in this "renewed" challenge would like to share their works when completed, simply let me know, in the comment box, and I'm always happy to share it in the Guest Gallery here!!

Parchment Craft 2012....

Well, well....here we are in the midst of January 2012 and I have a lot of catching up to do!!  Unfortunately, my shoulder remains out of the rotator cuff and because of the polio I had when I was 8 (I'm now a well entrenched senior citizen!!) there is no surgery that can repair things so I have been in the midst of yet another "life adjustment" (as I've always called them) and I've taught myself, sort of, how to maneuver around things so that I can still manage to get the job done!!!  :))

Now, when last I posted, I was in the process of putting some new, special things together to share with all of you.  The good news is that things are 'almost' ready to share.....the bad news is that I'm still working on them, but at a much slower pace so they will arrive a wee bit later than I had expected :((  Please be patient and we'll be back on track very soon!!

Meantime, I will be posting some work I did early last summer....before my shoulder popped out of the rotator cuff.  I also have several beautiful projects to upload to the Guest Gallery that readers have sent to me to share with everyone.....and I will be uploading more of my own designs to the Patterns for Purchase page for those who are inclined to make a purchase.

Happy Parching.....see you again shortly  :))

Make Sure You Are Signed In!!

Recently some readers, and a few folks just passing through, have advised me they have had difficulties leaving comments so I undertook some "undercover work" this past week and discovered the most likely culprit is YOU MUST BE SIGNED IN to whatever account you use when you leave comments!!!

Actually, I have the very same issues from time to time when I'm visiting many of the awesome blogs I frequent often :))  I get so involved with something wonderful while I'm there that when I go to leave a nice, lengthy comment for the author, I do everything I'm supposed to do, to post the comment, but I often neglect to sign in, and because of that, my comment disappears.......and then I can never remember what exactly I wrote because I'm so upset over my comment disappearing!!!!!!

Anyway.....make sure you are signed in prior to attempting to leave a comment :))  If you continue to have problems please let me know ASAP and I'll go searching again to find a solution.

Happy Parching...

A Few Parchment Craft Mandala Patterns

Hi everyone,

For those of you who many not necessarily like the two mandala patterns I have provided here on the blog.....or in the gallery....I am sharing a few of my favorites from my personal collection here on this page.  I always print a mandala pattern out to the largest it will fit on standard printer paper with about one half inch of margin all around.  This size will allow the mandala to fit comfortably on a sheet of parchment paper for tracing and still allow enough room around the two long edges of the parchment paper for perforating and cutting.

Help yourselves to whatever you would like to add to your own mandala collection.  Simply right click and follow your own pc instructions as to how to save.  Don't forget....I love to see the work any of you produce from the patterns that are shared on my blog so photo/or scan what you create and send it on....and I'll post it with your permission ;))

An Explanation For My Readers...Changes and Updates

Hi everyone,

As most of the regular readers here have seen over the past several weeks, there have been some strange goings on behind the scenes that occasionally leaked through to the posts.  Unfortunately, due to an ongoing problem with a scraper site (a website populated with ads, which steals others content, so it 'appears' to be a legitimate site) I have updated several things in order to better protect myself.   For the record, MY blog is not associated with "buy parchment craft".....the scraper site mentioned in my previous post....nor do I ever wish to be associated with them.

Prior to the beginning of 2010 I had absolutely no clue about blogging.....REALLY!!!  I always thought they were simply for people to write about their daily ups and downs and quite frankly that wasn't reading material I felt was of interest  to me so I never actually even read a blog until a fellow crafter created her blog and my interest in doing the same blossomed instantly....BUT, I didn't know this lady on a personal level and didn't dare ask how everything was done so I delayed until I had finished putting my book Parchment Craft Etched Glass Technique together and discovered it wasn't so easy getting something published, and ended up doing that myself, that I met the fellow parchment crafter who would eventually introduce me to blogging!!!!!  That lady became a dear friend and has been there, for me, every step of the way in getting my blog up and running the way it should.  She knows who she is!!!

Now, to most, the previous paragraph may not seem to have any relevance to the topic of this post, however, it does indeed.  I have worked extremely hard over this past year to learn how to present a respectable blog (without violating or breaking any laws while doing so) about something I am passionate about....parchment craft/pergamano....and then to have a scraper web site move in (and clearly violate copyright infringement laws) and help themselves to MY hard work and claim it as their own for financial reward is/was totally beyond my comprehension.  I learned one thing very fast....even when you do everything the law requires to protect your own work, the scrapers are always there lurking.  I have given my heart and soul to my blog hoping to share the awesome craft of parchment, and to teach my own technique in the craft, with other like minded people around the world.  I had hoped teaching other handicapped parchment crafters (I had polio at a very young age) would bring them comfort in knowing there was a less demanding way to create beautiful parchment pieces for as long as their battered bodies would allow.  Then to have a scraper website come in and use MY intellectual property, and that of others as well, solely to appear to be a legitimate website for their own financial gain, is absolutely disgusting to me.  These people are now being rewarded financially, from my intellectual property, in clear violation of US Copyright laws.

To all parchment crafters around the world with websites and/or blogs....please continue to link to one another.  Reciprocating links are an integral part of becoming recognized in search engines, which in turn makes it easier for new parchers to find quality  information when they search, instead of the scraper sites which only prey on the legitimate sites.  When we put our designs and information on the web, we want other parchers to find US.......not them!!!

To the scraper sites:  This is public notice....if any of my posts and/or pages found within my blog, all of which are copyrighted, are used for your financial gain without my specific written permission, I will not hesitate to seek legal action.

To all my parching friends worldwide:  My sincere apologies for having to change/update and then explain what all this has been about.  I truly love my blog....I love sharing it with all those who read it regularly and those who stop by on their way to somewhere else and most importantly it has been an avenue for me to meet, and come to know, so many truly wonderful like minded people in the world of art, design and creativity!!  I have poured my heart and soul into my blog and I cannot, nor will I ever, sit by and allow MY intellectual property to be used by an illegitimate site!!

Holidays Are Just Around The Corner!!!

IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS PAGE FROM:  http://buy-parchment-craft.com  PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT IT WAS STOLEN FROM MY SITE ..... ALL THINGS PARCHMENT CRAFT (http://allthingsparchmentcraft.blogspot.com).  (I'm providing the url in this post because I want my readers to go to that site and recognize it.  Then you will  know what it's up to if you come across it again!) buy-parchment-craft is a scraper site, the owner’s identity is hidden through subterfuge. BY STEALING THIS PAGE FROM MY SITE THEY ARE VIOLATING U.S. COPYRIGHT LAWS. THEY HAVE STOLEN MY PICTURES, TEXT, CONTENT, DESIGNS, ETC. TO GENERATE INCOME TO THEM THROUGH ADVERTISING SALES. THEY ARE STEALING MY BANDWIDTH, AND DIRECTING TRAFFIC AWAY FROM MY SITE THROUGH SEARCH ENGINES.

Hi everyone,

It's been a crazy past few weeks around here so thought I'd better slow down long enough to send out a gentle reminder!!  Everything over at Papercrazys Place is marked down to unbelievable prices especially for the holiday season.  Come on by and take advantage of all the wonderful bargains.

Happy Holidays,
Vickie
