A Little Bit of This and That.....

Hi all,

It has taken me a wee bit to get my "feel" back for parching!!!  Those of you who have lost your mojo for any length of time know exactly what I mean.  That certain way 'you' hold, and use, the parching tools....the order in which we all choose to create our work, and finish it off....the colors that work well with your own personal likes/dislikes, etc., etc., etc.

Well, I have been working with several of the techniques I am comfortable with, as well as the techniques I created (ie: Etched Glass) and I'm beginning to get the hang of things once again.  I honestly do not think we realize just how much we loose/forget in this art form if we step away from it for any length of time!!

Having said all that, I am attaching a few items I have completed recently and want to share and hope you enjoy your visit with me.

I have a few more things in the works, but for now please stop by and say hello.....and enjoy the view!!!!!  :)

A Special Thanks....

Hi everyone,

First, I would like to send out a very special "THANKS" to everyone who has taken the time to welcome me back to the world of Parchment Craft.  I have a little bit of adjusting still to do, but it'll all come together very soon. :)

I had my first project ready to complete and post but when I got to the very last row of embossing the pattern, I really, really messed up and there was nothing I could do to salvage the piece, sooooooo...... this post is to share a second project.  As I stated above, a bit of adjusting to do yet, (relearning the "feel" one must have for the different techniques) in this craft, but I'll get there!!

Well, I must admit, I feel wonderful posting a new piece of work for the first time in nearly 2 years.  I know things have changed in the parching world....some I like and some not so much....so I will continue to 'step out of the box', as I'm known for anyway, and forge forward with much excitement.

Happy Parching...

I AM BACK!!!!!

Hi everyone,

Well, it's been a bit over TWO years since I have been staying on top of things in the parchment world, but I'm back!!!!!  I'm sure there are lots and lots of new parchers, out there, that have never heard of me, or seen my work.....now you will.....I hope. :)  I also hope to see lots of my old friends, followers, students and just visitors stop by too!!

So, let's get on with things, shall we.  The last time I was active here on my blog, I was in the middle of designing, and creating, a Zodiac Birth Sign Collection and a "life detour" happened.  Well, I've  completed the collection and I will share it with everyone now.

I have not written instructions for these remaining 5 signs so only have a completed sample piece and the patterns, but they are available to purchase (for a very small fee) to help me with the cost of replacing supplies, so that I may continue parching, now that I AM BACK. :)  I will add them to the blog store as quickly as I can.  There is a slight "relearning" process going on, for me, just to try and remember how to do anything here on my own blog!!!

Anyway, here are the photos of the 5 remaining birth signs:

So, there you have the completion of my Zodiac Birth Sign Collection.  Bear in mind, the photo frames around the photos are FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY, to give everyone a visual of how the completed project might look when framed.  As I stated, above, I will place these signs in the blog store and notify everyone for those who have an interest in the pattern (to complete as you would like).  Just because there is a pattern does not mean it must be completed the way "I" have chosen,  so use your creative juices (as I always used to say) and create what you see "in" the pattern with the photo sample.

That's it for this time and please feel free to contact me (as always) should you have questions....or just want to say "hello' after all this time!!!

Gemini & Cancer Birth Signs

Hello, hello....

Just a quick update on the status of the Zodiac Birth Sign Collection.  Gemini and Cancer are the next to be completed and Leo, of course, is already done and in the store.  I will be taking a very brief  'time out' over the first part of April and will then continue the remainder of the parchment collection.

I have also removed my Ebook "Parchment Craft 'Etched Glass' Technique" from the publishing site it has always been on and although it is no longer in print, it can still be purchased directly from me, (via PayPal) if anyone has an interest.  Bear in mind, one needs to know, at least, the basics of photo editing, or have a parching tutor who has learned the technique and can assist, but it is not a difficult technique to learn simply from the Ebook, as there are lots of visual, as well as written, instructions.

Also, if anyone has something, in particular, they would like to see, here on the blog, please drop thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc., in the comments and I'm looking forward to reading them!!!

Lastly, for this time.....I have had inquiries about the Christmas images I have used on my cards, over the past few years, and they want to know where to get the images.  They have always been right here on the blog, to download FREE, so here is a challenge for you!!  Simply, grab a cuppa, put your feet up and take a break.....then get comfortable and browse backward through the 'older' posts and you will soon find where the "Etched Glass" Christmas images are that are absolutely FREE to download and use.

Until next time....

WHOOHOO!!! Taurus #1&2 In Store!!!

Hi everyone,

Well, after many hours of fighting pc crashes/blog totally disappearing/printer out of ink/backup printer not compatible with some of the programs I use on the desktop, etc., etc., etc., I finally have both Taurus birth signs in the store.  Please be sure and let me know if anything is not working right though because all is well on this end.....so I HOPE it is on yours as well. :)

If anyone has missed the ongoing posts about the Taurus signs, I made two of them because some parts of the world consider 'any' hoofed, male animal (aside from horses, etc) to be "The Bull", while here in the USA we put cattle in that category, so in order to have everyone covered, I made one of each so no one would be left out.

All that's necessary for you to do now is choose which suits you, or your recipient, and they remain the same price (individually) as all the previous signs.  For those who would like BOTH signs I have given a discount, so pick what you want and then have fun!!

Reminder:  I always put my contact info, and the link here to my blog, on all of my pattern packs, so if my designing doesn't make as much sense to you, as it did to me, then don't panic because you can reach me with questions....or simply to shout "I don't get this"!!!!!!! :)  :)  :)

TAURUS #1 and #2 - UPDATE

Hi everyone,

This post will be short as I am going to share both versions of the TAURUS birth sign today so those who have an interest in this particular sign can have a bit of time to choose which one.....or both....to begin (or add) to their existing collection.  I am in the process of writing instructions so they are waiting on that task before going to the "NEW" Designs store.  If anyone doesn't want to wait, just let me know and I'll add you to the list of those waiting for this birth sign and as soon as instructions are done I will notify you they are in the store.

Taurus #2

Taurus #1

The reason I have designed two signs for Taurus:  During my research for birth signs I discovered that in other countries around the world, a "bull" can be any male, hoofed animal.....thus, the first sign.  It appears that the USA is only one of a handful of countries, that consider a "bull" to be of the cattle genre, soooooo, sign #2 had to be done so that no one got left out!!!!

Now, please keep in mind, as I stated at the beginning of this collection, these signs are a bit more on the 'rugged' side, in design, so I hope they will assist those of us who love parchment craft, in finally having something for those males in our lives and these birth signs would be perfect for a keepsake, very special gift.  In the near future, I will be creating another collection with a 'frillier' appearance, so not to fret, there will be special ones for the ladies too.

Meantime, I'm back to the work station to get the instructions written for both of these birth signs and I am hoping I can get this polio ridden/fibromyalgia body to cooperate with me and get this sign complete.

TAURUS #1 & 2 - Available March 13

UPDATE:  Because Taurus #2 will be ready over the upcoming weekend, I am moving the "in store" date of #1 to the 13th so that both signs can be posted together and you folks will have a choice of which version of the sign you prefer!!  :)

Hello everyone,

Okay, I know.....everybody is wondering why there is a "Taurus #1".....right??  :)  Well, during my research on this particular birth sign, some information said the males of hoofed animals were always called a 'bull' in various countries of the world, so I proceeded to create what has turned out to be "Taurus #1" because I have since learned that the info might be different, sooooooo, I also have a "Taurus #2", which will be complete by weeks end, and it is a 'bull' as those of us here in the USA know them!!!!!  When all is said and done, I believe everyone will be covered in whatever their particular version of a 'bull' is.  :)

Now, it doesn't show very well in this photo, but the majority of this project is made with a technique called "perga-broidery" and you can also find it in some of Manuela Provensano's work, as it is one of her techniques that many of us use often.  It is a very demanding technique and can create a very nice blister on your middle finger, but it's quite lovely when complete........give it a try and you will see for yourself!!  lol

The pattern pack will be posted in the "New Designs" store by mid week and the 2nd version will follow shortly thereafter!!
